Branding in India costs ₹20,000 to ₹50,000 for early-stage startups, growing businesses it costs ₹60,000 to ₹1,50,000 and above ₹2,00,000 for established companies. What changes inside those brackets is the project scope, a logo alone, logo + logo guidelines, a full identity system, or strategy-led branding with structured brand guidelines. The cost also depends upon the agency’s experience, location, and process. This guide breaks down what you actually get at each price point, why the spread is so wide, and how to know when a quote is honest
What “branding” actually means at different price points
The word branding covers three different things, and that’s most of the reason quotes vary so wildly.
At the most basic level, branding means a logo, a wordmark or symbol to launch any business. Most ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 branding you get are logo-only work, often from freelancers, template-driven services, or AI tools. This is good for very small businesses with no money to spend on branding. They can use this basic level designing to start and validate the business.
One level up is a brand identity system, this includes a logo plus secondary marks, a typography hierarchy, a colour palette, basic stationery (business card, letterhead, email envelope etc), and a one-page usage guideline. This is what most ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000 projects deliver in India.
The most complete level is brand strategy and identity, it covers research and positioning work before any design starts, a defining the brand personality identity to full visual identity system, a proper brand guidelines document 30–40 pages. Brand launch across the touchpoints that matter (website, packaging, social media templates, presentation templates). This is what ₹2,00,000+ projects involve.
If you’re asking how much branding costs, the honest first question is: which of these three do you actually need?
The three pricing brackets, explained
Early-stage startup: ₹20,000 to ₹50,000
Who this is for: Ideal for businesses just starting or started, often pre-revenue or early revenue, who need a credible identity to launch with a logo, basic identity assets, and enough consistency to look professional across different channels/platforms, a basic website, and first-customer conversations.
What’s included at this price (from a branding agency’s POV): a logo with 2-3 directions to choose from, a primary and secondary colour palette, type selection. Maybe business card, letterhead etc.
What’s not included: brand strategy, a deep brand guidelines document, multiple revision rounds beyond standard scope, packaging or website design and category research.
What to watch for: ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 quotes for “branding” almost always mean a single logo. Avoid a logo generated from templates, or by AI tools. You can be open about your budget and expectations clearly before starting anything.
Growth-stage business: ₹60,000 to ₹1,50,000
Who this is for: Ideal for businesses 2 to 5 years in, with traction, that have outgrown a placeholder logo and need a real identity system before scaling further. And also founders who have funds to invest. Typically D2C brands hitting their stride, services businesses ready to look like the category leader, or any company about to raise money.
What’s included: a positioning round before design (1-2 working sessions or a short discovery exercise), a complete identity system with multiple lockups, an expanded colour and typography system, full stationery, a 20-30 page brand guidelines document.
What’s not included: full packaging design across an SKU range, full website design and build, photography direction or shoots and any sort of advertising.
What to watch for: Avoid working with agencies quoting as low as ₹60,000 with a delivery list that looks like ₹2 lakh of work. They’re either underpricing themselves and will rush, or the scope will quietly shrink during the project. Get a written scope document. Ask what’s specifically not included.
Established business: ₹2,00,000 and above
Who this is for: Ideal for businesses ready to either rebrand entirely, launch a new vertical or sub-brand, or build a brand system to support brand expansion. Or a house of brand launching a new brand with strong brand identity.
What’s included: It includes detailed strategy work (positioning, audience deep-dive, competitive audit etc.), a complete identity system with all the assets a growth-stage brand gets plus extended branding like packaging across SKUs, environmental graphics, signage, full website design, and brand guidelines (retail merchandising, product photography style). The brand guidelines document at this tier typically runs 30 to 60 pages or even more.
What it costs to do this properly: ₹2,00,000 is the minimum to start with. Most established business brand projects in India land between ₹2,50,000 and ₹10,00,000 depending upon certain factors and agency to agency.
What to watch for: agencies quoting under ₹2 lakh for “complete rebranding with strategy.” Something will be missing, usually the strategy round, the guidelines document, or the rollout. Each is where the real work lives.
Why the spread is so wide
Five factors explain most of the price variation in India.
Scope clarity. Vague briefs produce vague quotes. The same “branding project” can mean ₹40,000 or ₹4,00,000 depending on what’s in the scope document. Always ask for a written scope.
Strategy depth. Most ₹50,000 projects skip strategy. Most ₹2,00,000+ projects can’t skip it. Strategy is where 30–40% of the cost goes. But strategy is where most of the value lives. You need experienced brand strategists to build strong branding.
Agency stage. A 10-person studio with a track record costs more than a 2-person team starting out. Both can do good work; you’re paying for risk reduction, process maturity, and the ability to handle scope changes without the project falling apart.
Location. Mumbai and Bangalore agencies typically quote 20 to 40% higher than Delhi NCR agencies for the same scope. It’s not necessary that only Mumbai branding agencies will deliver the best results. The quality of work depends uponwho’s doing it than where they’re sitting.
Revisions and process. Two revision rounds is standard. If you need five, that’s a different project. Most under-priced quotes assume one revision and get expensive fast when reality hits.

How to budget honestly
Before asking any agency for a quote, answer five questions for yourself:
What stage is the business in, pre-launch, growing, or scaling and rebranding?
What’s the actual scope, logo only, identity system, or full strategy + identity + rollout?
Which applications need to be designed now versus later, website, packaging, signage, presentation templates, social media?
Is naming part of the project? (It’s a separate ₹50,000 to ₹2,00,000 scope, usually.)
When do you need to launch? (Rushed timelines cost 25 to 50% extra.)
Answer those clearly and your quote conversations get a lot shorter and a lot more honest.
Frequently asked questions
Around ₹20,000 for an early-stage startup logo and basic identity package. Below that, you’re either getting a template-based logo, an AI-generated mark, or a freelancer doing a single direction with no strategy. None of those are wrong choices for a very early business but they’re just not “branding” in the full sense.
For an early-stage startup, yes. You can get a logo, colour palette, type selection, basic stationery, and a short usage note for ₹20,000 to ₹50,000 with a working agency. You won’t get strategy, a full guidelines document, or extensive rollout those start at the next tier.
Different scope. The ₹50,000 project is usually logo-and-basics. The ₹5 lakh project usually includes strategy, naming or naming review, a complete identity system, extensive applications (website, packaging, signage), and a full brand guidelines document. Both are honest prices for honest scopes the trap is when an agency quotes ₹5 lakh and delivers ₹50,000 work, or vice versa.
Yes, by 20 to 50% typically. Mumbai and Bangalore agencies quote highest, Delhi NCR slightly lower, Tier-2 city agencies lower still. Quality depends more on the team and the process than the city. Creative Orion is based in Faridabad and Gurgaon, works with clients PAN India and internationally, and prices at Delhi NCR market rates regardless of where the client is.
Two to four weeks for startup-bracket work, six to ten weeks for growth-stage projects, and three to six months for established-business rebrands with strategy and rollout. Rushing any of these significantly compromises quality or significantly increases cost.
Depends on stage and stakes. AI tools can’t give you a professional identity. They are used for research work but not to design professional identity. A solo freelancer works for narrow scope, logo only, single application. An agency makes sense when scope spans strategy + identity + rollout, when consistency across touchpoints matters, or when you need someone accountable for the brand’s expression as the business scales.
